Pension Increase 2012

We are pleased to tell you that your London Borough of Hackney pension will be going up by 5.2%.

The Government has approved the rate of increase for all public service pensions and state scheme benefits.  The increase is effective from 9th April 2012 and is 5.2%.

The increase is set by reference to the Consumer Price Index in September 2011.  It does not reflect the performance of the Hackney Pension Fund and we do not have the power to pay any additional increase.

  • are aged 55 or over, or
  • are receiving a spouse’s, widower’s, beneficiary’s or child’s pension,
  • or  retired on ill health grounds.

If you do not fall into one of these groups, your pension will still attract the increase, but it will not be paid until your 55th birthday.

Annual Benefit Statements 2016

As you may be aware, it is a requirement that annual benefit statements are issued by the 31st August each year.  However providing the statements within this timescale has, unfortunately, been challenging again this year.

The reason being is some payroll providers are still having difficulties in providing accurate data in respect of the career average scheme, and despite full end of year guidance being made available, obtaining accurate information has proved difficult.  In some cases where data quality has been poor, we have had to request it again and this has caused further delays.

We were able to issue some annual benefit statements at the end of August, but the vast majority will be sent out from the beginning of December 2016.  However, the information on them may not be as accurate as we would have hoped.  Therefore, if you feel that any of the details on your statement are incorrect, then please contact Equiniti, the pension administrators, at the earliest opportunity.  Equiniti can be contacted on 01293 603 085, please quote your member number or national insurance number when calling.

Thank you for your continued patience whilst we endeavor to correct the data and issue your statements.
